老狗也逆齡？

研究發現，老狗定期服用NAD+前體加上去衰老藥物(senolytic)三個月後，犬隻認知障礙評分(Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Rating)會顯著降低。

「逐漸變黑又得，立即變黑晒亦得，得咗！」把頭髮由白變黑，從科學角度看不是逆齡。最近，老化科學界有一宗關於「逆齡」的花生事件。先後成功讓廣大市民認識白藜蘆醇和NMN的哈佛教授辛克萊(David Sinclair)宣布：「I am very proud of the teams at NCSU and Animal Biosciences, who, after years of collaborative research and a clinical trial, have developed the first supplement proven to reverse aging in dogs.」

臨床實驗證明首隻令犬隻逆齡的食物補充品經已面世？辛克萊創辦的公司Animal Biosciences和北卡羅來納州立大學的科學家近年合作研究，一種NAD+前體加上另一種去衰老藥物合成的犬隻食物補充品(品牌名稱為Leap Years)，對改善老狗老化究竟有甚麼作用？實驗結果將發表於一篇名為《A Randomized, Controlled Clinical Trial Demonstrates Improved Cognitive Function in Senior Dogs Supplemented with a Senolytic and NAD+ Precursor Combination》的研究報告。問題是，即使報告最終能經得起同行評審，實驗結果其實沒有證明「老狗逆齡」這回事。

說過了，廿多年前幾十位研究衰老的頂尖科學家聯署澄清沒有證據顯示任何生活習慣改變、外科手術、維他命、抗氧化劑、激素、基因工程技術能夠影響衰老過程。廿多年後的今天，辛克萊的一位前研究院同事凱伯琳(Matt Kaeberlein)再次回應「老狗逆齡」是一個大話：「I find it deeply distressing that we've gotten to a point where dishonesty in science is normalized to an extent that nobody is shocked when a tenured @Harvard professor falsely proclaims in a press release that a product he is selling to pet owners has “reversed aging in dogs”. To me, this is the textbook definition of snake oil salesman.」「不誠實」、「蛇油推銷員」，在學術界是非常嚴重的指控。對辛克萊的公信力來說，這無疑是一次災難。

回應經廣傳後，辛克萊把「the first supplement proven to reverse aging in dogs」改為「the first supplement shown to reverse the effects of age related decline in dogs.」把「逆齡」改為「逆轉年齡相關的衰退效果」，行家卻仍覺恥與為伍。
